CLEAR, PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Minecraft Inventory Slot IDs FAQ

Are slot IDs the same in every inventory?

No. Slot numbering depends on the inventory view and server API. The visual reference shows the common raw container order; plugin developers should still confirm InventoryView conversion rules.

What is the player off-hand slot?

In the player inventory data layout, the off-hand is commonly index 40, while armor occupies 36 through 39. GUI raw slot numbering may differ.

Can I use these IDs in Bukkit events?

Use event.getRawSlot() for the full open view and event.getSlot() for the clicked inventory. They are not interchangeable, especially when a top container is open.
